A Pyro-musical show is in theory a traditional firework display show with the addition of music. Why it is called a pyro musical show and not musical fireworks is simply a trendy term used in the business that has become the known terminology for a show that has firework effects timed precisely to match the explosions of the individual fireworks.

For example in a specific beat or accent of the music, pyrotechnic devices are fired at exact times within the music such as a drum is beating and at each sound of the drum a pyrotechnic device will explode.

Also, it is not so simple as each firework has different specifications for timing such as a ground based instant effects could be fired instantly on the musical beat, an aerial shell as those that explode in the sky need to be fired early so that it is the aerial explosion effect that is timed not its ignition time. The process involved is quite complex as it takes a lot of pre-preparation that is mostly done on the office computer. It is an artistic job that needs a good ear for music and a very good knowledge of available firework devices.

This type of show is performed electronically with a device called an electric match that does almost exactly as its name suggests, it is a small device often a few millimeters wide with two wires attached, when the two wires receive a power supply these matches then explode and start the firework instead of the old days of lighting the blue touch paper and wait for it to start.
